T.J. Maxx Haul

Hello beauties!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been able to post a T.J. Maxx product haul, so I’m pretty excited to share my latest trips! It’s honestly been a rough couple of months at my local T.J. Maxx and Marshalls stores, but I’ve been able to round up some worthy products. If you want to see what I was able to score last time, check out my last T.J. Maxx Haul post now.

I saw a friend on Twitter post photos of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette and Prism Palette at Marshalls, but unfortunately have found major DUDS in every location around me. If you’ve been able to score these palettes at your local T.J. Maxx or Marshalls, let me know in the comments! These palettes normally run around the standard ABH palette price of $42, but can be found at T.J. Maxx/Marshalls for as low as $24! The Subculture Palette was recently on sale at Sephora for around $21 too, so hopefully some of you were able to grab this palette at a discounted price!

So, let’s check out some of the great stuff I’ve been able to grab over the last few months. I’m beginning to become a problem on Tad and I’s trips out and dragging him into every T.J. Maxx we drive past… I’m not sure how he still deals with me, but he’s been a trooper. Check out these steals:

What’s in my bag?

  • Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette (originally $46, bought for $24.99) – this palette was originally released in 2014 and was in PERFECT condition!
  • Kat Von D Smoke and Mirrors Greyscale Mini Lip Duo (originally $20, bought for $9.99)
  • NYX Professional Makeup #GlitterGoals Kit 3 with shades Purple, Pink, and Luna (originally $15, bought for $4.99)
  • LORAC Pirates of the Caribbean Lip Duo in shade Ahoy Matey (originally $26, bought for $2.99) – not pictured
  • pixi Crayon Combo in shade Super Smoky (originally $8, bought for $4)

And for those of you who may member from my top skincare items post, I am a HUGE snob for The Body Shop items, so it’s always exciting finding discounted items from them! Especially when it’s items from the Spa of the World line that I never tried while working for them a few years ago. Check out these babies:

  • The Body Shop Body Butter in scent British Rose (originally $21, bought for $6.99)
  • The Body Shop Body Wash in scents Adriatic Peony and Brittany Coast (originally $12, bought for $3.99/each)

Head to your local T.J. Maxx soon to see what gems you can find! Let me know what you were able to score in the comments!

America’s Stonehenge

Hey there, everyone!

Do you ever think back to when you were younger and the places your parents would take you? I grew up fortunate enough to have parents that tried to take me to fun places as much as they possibly could. Whether it was camping in the white mountains, hiking in local reservations, or heading to indoor family playhouses, it seems I was always discovering a new favorite place with them.

One spot I find myself still going back to is a little hidden gem in Salem, NH called America’s Stonehenge. I spent a few years living in New Hampshire as a kid and got to visit this historical place with my dad while growing up. America’s Stonehenge consists of man-made structures that are said to be over 4,000 years old, but the origins are still unknown. You’ll find structures made out of stone over the 20+ acres of land, along with some cute alpacas around the entrance.

For $12, you can take a self-guided tour (now accompanied by an audio tour through a mobile app) inside the stone walls, chambers, and wooded area. This site is also home to an astronomical calendar that is still used today. America’s Stonehenge has no direct connection to England’s Stonehenge, but leaves a mysterious impression with visitors nonetheless.

Tad and I recently made a trip back here and as always, I was mystified. In 2012, I took him here on a “hooky” day from work and he fell in love. (As a little “fun fact”, Tad loved this place so much, that he named a song ‘American Stonehenge’ that was released with his band Arrowhead back in 2014).

As you can see from the pictures we took, you’ll find those strange chambers I mentioned earlier in this post. If the chambers and walls aren’t strange enough, you’ll also come across the Sacrificial Table. Whether or not this structure was used for sacrifices or not, we may never know. As you walk through America’s Stonehenge, you can read along with a packet about different spots in the attraction with possible explanations.

If you’re ever in the area of Salem, NH and are interested in the mystery behind America’s Stonehenge I would absolutely recommend dropping by! It’s definitely a spot you do not want to miss out on. Do you have any local mysteries in your home town? Let me know in the comments!

Motivation, goals, and networking!

Hello loves!

I have been over the top demotivated recently and it’s really been taking an absolute toll on me. I feel terrible, because I feel I’ve been setting this blog up for failure and not committing enough time to it. I announced on my Instagram recently that I was going to go on a hiatus from posting the weekly Look Book posts, so that I could get more personal and post more about myself and home in Salem. How am I supposed to post about myself when I’m so unhappy with ME though?

Don’t get me wrong, this all sounds a little more dramatic and alarming than intended, but I guess what I’m trying to get at is… I’m just SO demotivated. I’ve touched base on this subject before and have expressed time and time again my struggles with setting up goals, which I don’t meet, and then I get even MORE demotivated. Yikes, what a vicious cycle, right?

So, where can I break the cycle? I don’t particularly view myself as this inspirational person, but I’d like to think if I can at least help myself, maybe I can help those around me with similar issues. Now, what ‘issues’ am I aiming to fix though? As you can see, I’m a bit all over the place with my thoughts in this post, so thank you if you’ve been able to read along and understand my end goal here.

I run a health and beauty blog here, but I BARELY do my makeup. So, my first order of business to break my bad habits of not doing makeup, is to at least do face makeup every day. I’m talking simple face makeup here, so I can at least get into the habit of doing that again. I used to not leave my house without filling in my eyebrows and now I don’t even do that!!! I can no longer accept or allow that as a ‘beauty blogger’.

My second order of business here is to get to know my readers better! I want to interact more with you all and get tips and tricks for makeup, hair, beauty, and health, that can be shared with other readers. I think it’s important to build relationships and networks with other people with similar interests to gain support. As some as you may know, one of my original goals with The Blair Bitch was to build an area for people to share their work with makeup and beauty and network on a smaller scale. I don’t want to lose sight of that goal.

So, the first topic I’d like to reach out to my readers about is… what is your typical routine to get ready for the day? Do you fill your eyebrows in before you do foundation? Do you even use foundation? What part of your makeup needs to be done before you leave the house? Let’s discuss! Let me know how long your routine usually takes and HOW do you push yourself to get it done everyday?

Please leave some tips and tricks for a daily makeup look in the comments and let’s just… talk!
